It is hand built at Fort Wilkins from heavy-gauge 99.9% pure copper and joined with lead-free, food grade silver solder. Every unit is water tested before it ships. It is made for people who want a ready-to-use still for distilled water, essential oils, botanical extraction, culinary infusions, teaching or research. It can also make fuel ethanol if you hold a TTB fuel alcohol permit.

Do I need to solder or build anything?
No. This 10 gallon still arrives fully assembled and is water tested before it leaves the building. If you would rather solder your own, see our DIY kits instead.
Is it legal to own this copper still?
Under US federal law it is legal to buy and own a still of any size and use it for distilled water, essential oils and similar non-alcohol uses. Distilling alcohol to drink is not legal without a federal TTB permit, even for personal use, though a free TTB fuel alcohol permit lets you make ethanol for fuel. State and local laws vary and can be stricter, so check yours; we don't give legal advice.
