Lifetime warranty · Hand built in Pittsfield, NH · Checkout is handled securely by our sister store MoonshineStills.com.
This electric heating element with controller lets you heat your still from a wall outlet instead of a propane burner. It is made for American Copper Works copper moonshine stills and comes in two versions. The 110v element plugs into a standard household outlet and suits smaller stills. The 220v element (3800W) runs on a dryer- or range-style circuit and heats bigger stills faster. Each kit comes with the element (1" NPT thread), an adjustable temperature controller, and the wiring and connectors.
Steady heat matters because alcohol vapor comes off well below the boiling point of water, so a dial you can adjust gives you a calmer, more even run. There's no open flame and no propane tank to manage. Our stills are hand built from thick 20 oz, 22 gauge American copper, much heavier than the thin copper on cheap imports, and this element is made to fit them. Every alchemist needs a fire they can control. This one comes with a dial. Want a still that's electric from the start? See our electric moonshine stills.

Choose Your Element
110v Element — best for smaller setups. Plugs into any standard household wall outlet. Ideal for stills under 10 gallons.

Frequently asked questions
Should I pick the 110v or the 220v element?
Pick the 110v element for small stills; it is listed for sizes up to 6 gallons and plugs into a normal household outlet. Pick the 220v (3800W) element for stills 10 gallons and up; for stills over 60 gallons, two 220v elements are recommended for the fastest heating. If your still falls between these sizes, call or text the owner at 1-502-337-3944, or read What Size Still Do I Need?.
Will this element fit my still?
It is made to install on American Copper Works moonshine stills and uses a standard 1" NPT pipe thread. If you have a still from another builder or need a custom setup, call or text the owner at 1-502-337-3944 before ordering.
Is it legal to use an electric still to make alcohol at home?
Under US federal law you can legally buy and own a still of any size and use it for distilled water, essential oils and similar non-alcohol uses. Distilling alcohol to drink at home is not legal without a federal permit from the TTB, even for personal use, though a free TTB fuel alcohol permit lets you make ethanol for fuel. State and local laws vary and can be stricter, so check yours; we don't give legal advice. Learn more in Are stills legal to own?.
